MUSIC LESSONS FOR ALL AGES

Music Lessons

Music lessons are offered on a weekly basis, starting in September and continuing through May. These lessons are open to students aged 4 and older.
Adults are welcome and encouraged, and there is an option to take lessons by appointment, which can be arranged by contacting via phone or email.

Piano students have the opportunity to learn and practice on a vibrant and highly responsive grand piano within the studio. Guitarists and other instrumentalists kindly requested to bring their own instruments to their lessons.

Instruction is customized to suit the unique learning styles of each student, with both the student and instructor collaboratively selecting the most effective path to achieve mastery.

It is not what we know

But how we know it!

Exploring Music Education at The New Learning Project

Learning to become a proficient musician involves a fusion of two distinct yet complementary learning approaches.

1. Linear Progression: This path entails ongoing endeavors that propel students towards musical excellence. Aspiring musicians strive to:

– Enhance their flexibility as performers.
– Attain comfort with both slower and faster tempos.
– Hone their precision.
– Improve their sight-reading abilities.
– Master the nuances of dynamics.
– Cultivate versatility in their musical abilities.
– Accumulate valuable experience

2. Circular Achievement: In this approach, students set and accomplish specific milestones that reinforce their foundational knowledge. Musicians consistently demonstrate their competence by:

– Demonstrate Effective Practice Techniques
– Mastering all twelve musical tones.
– Proficiently recognizing and comprehending various clefs.
– Identifying all notes on the musical staff.
– Understanding key signatures.
– Grasping the construction of scales and chords in all twelve keys.
– Recognizing tempo and dynamic markings.
– Building and maintaining a diverse repertoire of musical pieces.

Marcos Levy encourages his students to harness the power of both these learning strategies to nurture their musical talents.
